# Set up Fluent

These are Fluent's official setup instructions. Do every step yourself. The user only signs in to Fluent in their browser. Never ask for their password, and there are no API keys.

Safe to re-run: check before you add anything. Never add a second Fluent connector or skill, and never change or remove the user's other connectors.

Fluent is the user's conversational memory: their meetings, notes, people and commitments. Its connector is a remote MCP server at `https://mcp.becomefluent.io` (Streamable HTTP, OAuth sign-in).

## Step 1: Add the connector

First work out which agent you are.

- **Claude Code:** run `claude mcp list`. If `fluent` is listed, skip to step 2. If not, run:

- **Cursor:** if `~/.cursor/mcp.json` already has a `fluent` server, skip to step 2. If not, merge this entry into `~/.cursor/mcp.json`, keeping every other server:

- **Any other agent that supports remote MCP servers:** add a remote HTTP server named `fluent` at `https://mcp.becomefluent.io`, with your own command or config. Check first that there isn't one already.

- **A chat app that can't change its own connectors:** give the user the steps for their app, and wait until they say it's done. The URL they paste is `https://mcp.becomefluent.io`. All the steps are also at https://becomefluent.io/ai/
  - **Claude:** start at https://claude.ai/customize/connectors?modal=add-custom-connector&connectorName=Fluent&connectorUrl=https%3A%2F%2Fmcp.becomefluent.io
    1. Click Add to Claude: Claude opens with Fluent filled in.
    2. Confirm, then sign in to Fluent and click Allow.
    3. Ask Claude about your meetings.
  - **ChatGPT:** start at https://chatgpt.com/plugins
    1. + → Add custom MCP server
    2. Paste the URL, choose OAuth
    3. Create, then Install
    4. Type @Fluent in a chat
  - **Mistral Vibe:** start at https://chat.mistral.ai/connections
    1. Connectors → + Add Connector → Custom MCP Connector
    2. Name it Fluent, paste the URL
    3. Connect, then sign in to Fluent and Allow

## Step 2: Sign in

Your first Fluent tool call, or your connect action, opens a browser. The user signs in to Fluent and clicks Allow. Read access is enough to start. How sign-in works: https://becomefluent.io/auth.md

Never store, print or ask for tokens.

## Step 3: Check it works

Call `get_my_day`. It only reads. Tell the user that Fluent is connected and how many meetings you can see today, for example "I can see 4 meetings today". Don't repeat anything from their meetings.

- If it says the user isn't signed in, sign-in is still pending: go back to step 2.
- If you can't see Fluent's tools yet, the user needs to reload you. Say so, and check again after.

## Step 4: Install the coach skill

The Fluent coach asks the user about their notes, checks them against their meetings, then advises.

1. Fetch https://becomefluent.io/.well-known/agent-skills/fluent-coach/SKILL.md
2. Work out its sha256 and compare it with the `fluent-coach` digest in https://becomefluent.io/.well-known/agent-skills/index.json. If they differ, stop, don't install it, and tell the user.
3. Save it to your skills folder, for example `~/.claude/skills/fluent-coach/SKILL.md` for Claude Code or `~/.cursor/skills/fluent-coach/SKILL.md` for Cursor. If it's already there with the same digest, leave it.
4. If you have no skills folder, offer to add it to the project's or the user's custom instructions instead.

## Finish

Print exactly this block, then list anything still pending and what the user has to do:
