Most people think they're good listeners.
We were one of them.
Fluent started with a simple realization: even when we think we're paying attention, we miss most of what's actually being said.
Fluent shows you the patterns in your conversations you can't see yourself. Not to judge. Just to notice.
The story behind Fluent
I thought I was a good listener.
I pride myself on being attentive, on asking follow-up questions, on remembering the details. But somewhere along the way, I realized I wasn't really listening. I was pattern-matching, assuming I knew what people cared about because I knew what I would care about in their shoes.
It hit me during a conversation with a coworker. I kept steering the discussion toward what I thought mattered. Later, I learned what actually kept them up at night was something completely different. Something they'd mentioned before that I'd dismissed as small talk.
The same thing was happening at home. I was projecting my priorities onto my family instead of truly understanding theirs. I wasn't listening to learn what mattered to them. I was listening to confirm what I already believed.
I needed something to help me see past my own assumptions. Something that could reveal what the people in my life actually find important, not what I think they should find important. That's why I built Fluent.
“I wasn't listening to learn what mattered to them. I was listening to confirm what I already believed.”

An indie developer who got tired of assuming he knew what people meant. Fluent is for anyone who wants to understand the people in their life more deeply.
What we believe
Human Connection First
Technology should enhance relationships, not replace them. Every feature we build is designed to help you be more present with the people who matter.
Evidence Over Intention
Wanting to be better isn't enough. We believe in measuring actual behavior — not just tracking habits, but understanding who you're becoming through the conversations you have.
Privacy is Non-Negotiable
Your conversations are your most intimate data. End-to-end encryption means only you can read your data. Not even we can access it. This isn't a feature — it's a promise.
Thoughtful AI
AI should feel like a perceptive friend who helps you see yourself more clearly. We build AI that sharpens human judgment, not replaces it.
