Import your Limitless history

Fluent pairs with the pendant directly — but that only covers audio captured after pairing. If you wore a Limitless before Fluent, the months of lifelogs sitting in Limitless's cloud are worth pulling across. That's what the optional API key is for.

Import your history

  1. Get a Limitless API key from your Limitless account's developer settings.
  2. In Fluent, open Settings → Connections → Advanced.
  3. Paste the key into Limitless API Key and save. (Leave the base URL field alone unless you're running a custom endpoint — almost nobody needs it.)
  4. Tap Sync Now. Fluent syncs your lifelogs in the background. Large histories take a while; they'll appear as conversations as they land.

Once imported, your lifelogs get the same treatment as new captures — transcripts, meeting notes, people profiles built from cited evidence, searchable through Ask Fluent.

What the key does and doesn't do

  • It's one-way. Fluent reads your lifelogs; it never writes to or modifies your Limitless account.
  • It's optional. Day-to-day capture runs over direct Bluetooth pairing and doesn't touch Limitless's API at all.
  • It's the only piece that depends on their cloud. If Meta deprecates the Limitless API tomorrow, paired capture keeps working — only history import would stop.

Is the Limitless API key required to use Fluent?

No. The pendant pairs directly over Bluetooth and works without any API key. The key is only for importing lifelogs already stored in Limitless's cloud.

Where do I get a Limitless API key?

From the Limitless developer settings on their site while your account is active. Fluent only reads your lifelogs with it — it never writes back.

What happens to my imported history if Limitless's cloud shuts down?

Nothing. Imported lifelogs are stored in your Fluent account. After import, nothing depends on Limitless's infrastructure.
